With the chill of fall in the air, nothing makes us feel like fall than making our rustic 4-ingredient dutch oven bread.
It is easy to make, using only four ingredients you probably have around the house. The hardest part is really waiting for it to rise before baking up the yummy goodness!
Ingredients:
3 cups of all-purpose flour
1.5 cups of warm water
1/4 teaspoon of quick-rise yeast
Pinch of salt
Preparation:
Mix all ingredients in a bowl using a fork until combined; it should be a shaggy dough.
Cover with Saran wrap and leave to rise 10-16 hours (aka, the hard part!)
After allowing dough to rise, turn out dough on a generously floured board. Flour the top of the dough and begin working by hand, folding the dough on top of itself then pushing it together. Add flour as needed to prevent dough from sticking to your hands and the board.
Put dough back into bowl, cover with wrap or damp towel, and let rise another 30 minutes.
While dough rises, preheat over to 450 degrees with dutch oven inside the oven.
After dough rises again, dump dough onto the boardĀ again, flouring it and ensuring the dough is in a rough ball shape. Carefully put dough into dutch oven and place lid back on dutch oven.
Cook for 30 minutes with lid on. Then cook for additional 15 minutes with lid off.
Once baked, pull out bread and cool on cooling rack for 15 minutes before slicing.
