Southern Dill Pickle Martini

It’s 5 o’clock somewhere! Actually, it’s 5 o’clock here on the east coast so why not wind down on a Monday afternoon with a delicious adult beverage! Good day, bad day – this will do the trick :)

In the south, we love our pickles – and a good, stiff martini of course! We had long heard of restaurants that served a good dill pickle martini but we have never actually found one.

So, in true Southern Gay Gourmet style, we made a recipe of our own.

Ingredients:

Good quality vodka

Jar of pickes (we prefer Mt. Olive petite kosher dills)

Ice

Shaker

Preparation:

Fill shaker three-quarters of the way full with ice cubes

Add two shots of vodka

Add one shot of pickle juice

Put the top on the shaker and shake it like no one is watching

Strain into martini glass, garnish with a few petite dills on a skewer

**Many martinis call for Vermouth, either sweet or dry. We have tried adding both, but we believe the Vermouth actually takes away from the pickle flavor, not enhance the flavor like it does in other martinis**
